Voices of Ascension: Poulenc's "Gloria" and Honegger's "King David"

"Tenor Ian Koziara was a vigorous, compelling David: he brought imaginative dramatic energy and passion to his role, and used his powerful voice to convey the full range of the royal David’s very human strengths and weaknesses."                -Jean Ballard Terepkatheaterscene.net

The Voices of Ascension Chorus and Orchestra, founded in 1990 and still directed by conductor Dennis Keene, can be counted on for its musical elegance, meticulous accuracy and full, lush sound. In their most recent concert, the Voices of Ascension presented the astonishing capacity of two twentieth century French composers – Francis Poulenc and Arthur Honegger – to create richly complex emotional landscapes for listeners and musicians alike to inhabit.
