Freiburger Barockorchester and De Singel presents: Mozart's "Idomeneo"

In 1781 Mozart wrote an opera about the compelling Greek myth of Idomeneo, the king of Crete, who in exchange for the grace of the God Neptune is obliged to make a heartbreaking sacrifice. Only the pure love of Princess Ilia can prevent him from sacrificing his own son. The work was Mozart's first major music drama as an adult and was immediately a resounding success. Everything that makes Mozart Mozart is present in spades in this opera seria. Who else but René Jacobs, the most important Mozart conductor of our time, will manage this emotional rollercoaster. His recording of Idomeneo garnered wide acclaim and appreciation worldwide. Jacobs and the Freiburger Barockorchester now know the music so well that no detail escapes them.

Ian will sing the title role.
